Address hydraulic sluggishness by inspecting the relief valve setting (20.6 MPa) and pump wear, especially if symptoms appear after 6,500 hours. Inspect control linkage bushings for hardening or cracking, which causes imprecise joystick response. If the engine fails to start in cold conditions, verify glow plug functionality, as they are rated for temperatures down to -18°C (0°F). Check and replace bucket teeth and pins when play is detected.

Major engine overhauls should be planned around the 8,000–10,000 hour mark based on oil analysis results. At the 2,000-hour interval, perform critical tasks like cleaning the hydraulic strainer and checking the alternator and starter motor. For the undercarriage, monitor track tension for both steel and rubber shoe configurations. Periodic replacement of safety-critical parts must be performed according to the factory maintenance schedule.

During cold weather operation, utilize block heaters if temperatures drop below -18°C (0°F). For northern climates, transition to thinner hydraulic oil in the October–March period. In dusty environments, increase frequency of air cleaner element inspections and radiator fin cleaning. After long-term storage, ensure all fluids are checked and the machine is properly prepared for service to prevent component seizure or seal degradation.
