Inspect the spring-applied, hydraulically released multi-disc brakes on the drum drive motor and rear axle for wear. Check the Sauer Sundstrand Series 90 vibration motor mounting bolts for loosening due to high-frequency operation. Replace drive belts if glazing or cracking is observed, ensuring proper tension to prevent Cummins engine accessory drive slippage.

Rebuild the drum drive gearbox at 2000-hour intervals or when oil analysis shows excessive gear wear. Inspect the exciter shaft and bearings for axial and radial play during the 2000-hour deep service. Overhaul the Sauer Sundstrand Series 90 hydrostatic pumps if propulsion pressure drops below specification or if internal leakage causes slow travel speeds. Check the Cummins 5.9L engine for injector spray pattern issues and turbocharger shaft play. Inspect the rear axle no-spin design components for seal leaks and bearing wear. Rebuild the vibration coupling if hydraulic flow is insufficient to maintain 1740 or 2160 vibrations per minute.

Switch hydraulic fluid from HLP 46 to HLP 68 DIN 51524/2 in hot weather to maintain viscosity in the reservoir and vibration system. Use cold-weather HLP 46 in low temperatures to ensure proper pump operation. Check coolant mixture for freeze protection appropriate to the operating climate. Inspect the engine air filter more frequently in dusty environments to prevent Cummins 5.9L engine damage. Grease all pivot points and the vibration coupling more often in wet or muddy conditions to prevent corrosion and binding. Check the drum scraper for wear when operating on abrasive surfaces to maintain compaction efficiency.
