Inspect the 1004-40TW engine's turbocharger shaft play and charge air cooler boot integrity at the 1000-hour service. Check the alternator and starter load capacity to prevent electrical failures. Replace drive belts showing cracks or glazing. Inspect the power shift transmission for smooth gear engagement and oil leaks.

Perform a structural inspection of the chassis, side frames, and loader arm at the 2000-hour service for cracks or unauthorized welding. Measure swing ring play if equipped with a rotating attachment. Inspect the front and rear axle oscillation joints for excessive wear. Check the brake disc wear and immersed brake condition. Overhaul the hydraulic pump if relief pressure drops below 219.9 bar (3190 psi). Rebuild the engine if oil consumption exceeds limits or compression is low.

In cold weather, ensure the coolant mixture is adequate for freezing protection and use the correct viscosity engine oil. Check the battery electrolyte level and charge state in winter.
