Monitor fuel pressure to ensure it remains within the 10.2 to 34.5 kPa (1.5 to 5.0 psi) range for optimal combustion. Track vibration trends in the crankshaft damper and turbocharger to predict bearing failure.

Address ignition system failures by inspecting individual cylinder detonation sensitive timing (DST) modules and replacing worn spark plugs every 4000 hours. Replace the fuel metering valve if throttle response becomes erratic or fuel pressure drops below specification. Repair exhaust leaks by inspecting dry manifolds and flexible fittings for heat damage. Fix generator voltage regulation issues by testing the Caterpillar Digital Voltage Regulator (CDVR) and checking busbar connections for corrosion. Replace the 24V charging alternator if battery charging rates fall below 60A.

Perform a major overhaul at 8000 hours or when cylinder liner wear exceeds limits. Replace piston rings and liners during the rebuild. Inspect the crankshaft for journal wear and replace the vibration damper if cracks are detected. Rebuild the turbocharger if shaft play exceeds specifications or oil leaks persist. Replace the timing belt and tensioners at 8000 hours to prevent catastrophic valve-piston interference.
