Check vibratory bearing lubricant condition before its 3-year/3000-hour change, since a degraded sample often shows up as rough or weak vibration output on one drum.

The most common CB-534D complaint is an engine that runs fine but won't propel in either direction. Check the propel handle and speed sensor calibration before condemning the hydrostatic pump or motor; this control system has no laptop-scanned engine codes. If vibration won't engage, check the joystick trigger wiring first, then look inside the drum for a broken splined coupling or worn bearing. Repeat turbo failures or white smoke usually trace back to an oil pressure or relief valve fault, not the turbocharger itself.

Major rebuild points on the CB-534D center on the hydrostatic driveline and vibratory drums, not a transmission or final drives, since propel and vibration both run off the same hydraulic system. Expect eventual overhaul of the propel and vibratory pumps and motors, the drum bearings and eccentric weight housings, and the center articulation joint bushings and pins as wear items. The 3054C's Perkins-derived block is generally durable but sensitive to oil pressure, so a turbocharger or oil pump rebuild often follows any history of neglected oil changes.

Drain and flush the water spray tank and lines before freezing weather, or fit the factory cold-weather spray line kit; a frozen tank or nozzle is a common cold-season failure on this roller. Switch to a cold-weather diesel blend below freezing to prevent fuel waxing. In hot, dusty paving environments, service the air filter more often than the standard interval and keep the radiator core clear of dust and fines. Grease the articulation joint and scraper pivots more often in wet or gritty conditions, since sediment accelerates joint wear.
