Regular sampling during PM3 and PM4 intervals allows for identifying degradation before component damage occurs.

Monitor for hydraulic leaks at the swing motor, track motors, and boom cylinders. Frequent repairs often involve addressing worn pins, bushings, or leaking hydraulic hoses due to abrasion. If engine oil appears milky, inspect immediately for coolant contamination indicating potential head gasket failure. Ensure all relief valves, including boom check and line relief valves, are inspected if system pressure drops unexpectedly.

Major rebuild points focus on the engine, final drives, and hydraulic pumps. Evaluate the condition of the swing gear, bearing, and swing motor during heavy-duty service cycles. When undercarriage wear reaches critical levels, plan for sprocket or track roller replacement to avoid much more expensive frame damage. Comprehensive structural inspections of boom and stick welds are required during PM4 intervals.

In dusty or quarry environments, check air filters daily and clean radiator/oil cooler fins frequently to prevent overheating. For cold-weather operations, ensure the use of 10W/30 engine oil for starting capability down to -9°C (15°F). During seasonal transitions, inspect all hydraulic hoses for cracks or brittleness and verify that track tension is adjusted correctly for the expected ground conditions.
